As Diamond Sponsor, Timestamp presented practical IBM watsonx™ use cases at AI for Business, reaffirming its AI leadership.
Timestamp participated in AI for Business, an event promoted by IBM and organised by Arrow, held on 21 May at SUD Lisboa. As Diamond Sponsor, the company reaffirmed its leadership in artificial intelligence applied to business, with presentations to over 200 participants and a strong presence in the exhibition area.
Francisco Mourão, Business Automation Manager, and Paulo Pereira, Head of Enterprise Conversational AI & Generative AI, both from Timestamp, took the stage to present three important use cases of IBM watsonx, IBM’s AI solution, applied to real clients.
According to Francisco Mourão, it is essential for organisations to rethink current document and process management models, as the procedural and modular application of AI models can lead to significant gains in productivity and resource optimisation.
More than replacing professionals, it’s about improving their workflow, so that, as Francisco Mourão emphasised, more time and resources can be allocated to complex tasks, automating those that only require final human review.
Paulo Pereira highlighted throughout his presentation the early but already conclusive potential that workflow optimisation using AI can offer.
In organisations where document generation exceeds tens of thousands per day, it becomes urgent to create systems capable of efficiently automating classification, registration, and routing without compromising human resources or availability. With IBM watsonx-based implementations, Paulo Pereira explained, it was possible to achieve exponential improvements, including a reduction of over 90% in daily time invested in such processes.
Process complexity doesn’t magically disappear, but, as Paulo Pereira concluded, it is part of daily operations, and it is up to organisations, with Timestamp’s support, to invest in ethical and scalable AI implementations to tackle these challenges with ingenuity.
Ana Martins, Managing Director – Privacy & Governance Solutions at Timestamp, joined the final morning panel to discuss legal and regulatory considerations related to the ethical use of AI.
This, as Ana Martins emphasised, is one of the most pressing and complex challenges in the adoption of AI tools by organisations, especially in light of the legal obligation to comply with regulations such as the AI Act, NIS2, and DORA.
Despite the inherent complexity of implementing multiple regulations across the organisation, it is important to reinforce their comprehensive reach. As Ana Martins explained, the processes and departments involved at different stages of AI solution use are often cross-functional, and with this comes the added responsibility to ensure that compliance is respected and applied at all phases, across all stakeholders.
With support from tools like IBM watsonx Governance, Ana Martins explained, organisations are able to take a holistic view of risk, enabling the implementation of prevention, mitigation, and monitoring mechanisms for all AI-related processes, ensuring that they remain compliant with current regulations. And also, as Ana Martins concluded, since the solution is agnostic, it allows organisations to maintain an active and adaptable governance process, regardless of the solutions adopted.
